The newly released Dark Wolf Ultra is an ultra-light bait finesse reel from Tsurinoya, designed to offer comparable performance to the much pricier JDM BFS reels.
Built on an all-new carbon frame design, the Dark Wolf Ultra features a sleek design, is easy to palm, and weighs only 135g (4.7oz). Featuring an ultra-lightweight spool at only 6.1g (including bearing) and a ceramic cone-shaped line guide, the Dark Wolf Ultra is capable of casting as low as 1.5g right out of the box (1/20oz) when paired with a thin diameter finesse line. The 30-point externally adjustable magnetic braking system allows for precise and fine adjustment, allowing for controlled and accurate casting. 10+1 stainless steel bearings and precision-cut aircraft-grade aluminum main gear make the Dark Wold Ultra an extremely smooth reel on both the cast and retrieve. Ultra-light handle knobs, a compact carbon handle, a clicking drag star, a clicking tension knob, and an audible drag clicker all add to the list of quality features of the Dark Wolf Ultra KF-50S.

This is a good reel. I’ve used the two I have on different rods, targeting different fish and they have yet to let me down.

I bought this reel after seeing some other users fishing with it. I love the purchase. I have tried it on all lure weights. It
has performed flawlessly.Better than some of my $400 reels. I went ahead and bought another. Just in case they
discontinue the model.

I bought this reel after watching a couple of people were using them on their YouTube channel. I was amazed at how well and far this reel will cast. I use 6# flouro and 1/16oz-1/8oz baits. Drag is great and a very lightweight reel. Ranks right up there with my Shimano Curado BFS and SLX BFS reels. Hope they’re back in stock soon

I am trying to get along with this reel. I got it (along with the Tsurinoya Dragon II C66L rod) as my first BFS outfit… spooled it with 8lb Power Pro braid. The combo is very light and well-balanced. First, you have to keep the price point in mind. It is an $85 reel, so will never be Shimano smooth. It is, however, very light, and compact, and the engaging / disengaging of the thumb-bar seems very solid. My main issue with it is the inability of me to find consistency in casting. I can get several casts of impressive distance and control, followed inexplicably by an utter birds nest that will abruptly stop the cast. This even occurs when throwing easy-to-cast lures, like a 1/8 oz Tiny Trap. I’m no stranger to baitcasting, having used them for 30+ years. I also have a Shimano SLX MGL 70 reel, spooled with 15 lb braid mounted on a 7′ 1″ ML casting rod. I can throw 4 inch Power Worms, with a 1/16 – 1/8 oz worm weight with no casting issues, so I am familiar with throwing light baits with baitcasting gear.

Another great reel from Tsurinoya. Great reel for those starting off in BFS.
