Newly released for 2023, the Daiwa Salamandura Air TW is an all-new bait finesse reel built around Daiwa’s versatile SV 70 platform (used for the Tatula SV TW 70 in the USA) and packed with the high-end features of Daiwa’s HYPERDRIVE Design for finesse fishing enthusiasts.
Utilizing Daiwa’s Hyper Armed Housing, the frame and handle sideplate are constructed from strong and lightweight aluminum. Salamandura Air TW is durable, comfortable, and extremely palmable.
Equipped with an aluminum 80mm handle, perfectly sized for bait finesse fishing. The I-shaped handle knobs are constructed from Daiwa’s dense carbon Zaion material and are lightweight and sensitive.
Internally, Salamandura Air TW features Daiwa’s Hyperdrive Digigear, a gear design that makes the teeth of the gears more efficient at transferring power, therefore making the gear set feel smoother and more powerful while also reducing gear noise. The Hyper Tough Clutch eliminates false clutch engagements, even under hard casting conditions. Equipped with 7+1 bearings (5 CRBB – corrosion resistant ball bearings), Salamandura Air TW is a pleasure to cast and retrieve and is rated safe for saltwater use.
Armed with Daiwa’s T-Wing System (TWS) that provides accurate line lay on the retrieve while opening up during the cast for minimized friction resulting in increased casting distance and line control. The 30mm shallow AIR spool is designed specifically for bait finesse fishing and can easily cast lures down to 1/16oz when paired with the recommended 30m (33 yards) of light braid or fluorocarbon/nylon line. Salamandura Air TW also has a drag clicker, a must-have feature on modern bait finesse reels.
Finished in a stunning deep red and black colorway that perfectly compliments the fire salamander emblem on the sideplate, giving Salamandura Air TW a stylish and modern design.

Super impressive! The 10.9 g spool was thought to be heavy, but I can cast the EPF 1″ Swimbait from Eurotackle with their 1/32 oz Soft Lock Tungsten Jig size 6 hook pretty easily. So even though it seems like it is a bass BFS reel, it’s quite versatile and can handle some nice UL size lures. Should be a reel that works for everyone unless they are doing the SUL Niche below 1.5 grams. The Roro TX25S Spool that will be coming out on the market will allow you to go light! 0.5 Grams was tested and potentially lighter with the right rod and line!

The reel was casting every light lure I had straight out of the box and was even able to cast a 1/64 pretty far without changing the brakes or spool tension. Would definitely recommend this to a friend, I am going to buy another one soon, and maybe another one after that
