An absolute gem of a stream rod. I have used high end rods such as the Daiwa Silver Creek AGS, custom rods such as a Casket Mark Spider and the Ares is still my favorite for small streams. Loads beautifully with 1-4.5gr lures. Taper is moderate yet the blank is still crisp for working minnow lures.
Great for brook trout up to 12in. Also a blast to fish bluegills with. Super tough being solid carbon. I have used mine for years in brushy forests, camping and every other situation where most UL rods would break…still going strong.
I was apprehensive because it wasn’t from a high end manufacturer. Having used this rod for years, I am telling you 💯…this rod is THE rod for small streams.
