Shimano’s flagship BFS reel, the 2023 Calcutta Conquest BFS, is a specialized machine that condenses a wide array of cutting-edge features into an elegant, compact, machined circular body. Equipped with an updated Magnumlite Spool III (MGL III) and an all NEW FTB brake system, the Calcutta Conquest BFS exhibits exceptional performance with lightweight lures, allowing for controlled glides, skips, and flips when using as light as 1g. The FTB brake system, which moves the braking components off the spool, allows for an ultra-light spool weight and minimal startup inertia needed for smooth casting. The magnetic braking dynamically adjusts based on the spool’s centrifugal properties, allowing for stable, accurate, and elongated casting compared to previous iterations. The braking performance has also been improved with a fully adjustable dial, which allows for a true free spool when adjusting to minimum brake application.

The Calcutta Conquest BFS is packed with Shimano’s top tech features. The cold-forged HAGANE body material provides world-class durability and toughness to withstand continual and extreme abuse. Machine cut to precise specifications, the new Calcutta Conquest BFS is more compact and lighter than its predecessor for increased palmability and all-day comfort while on the water. Internal gearing features Shimano’s Micromodule teeth to provide an exceptionally smooth retrieve and is reinforced by X-Ship double-bearing technology for precise gear alignment and enhanced durability.
