In the Book:
Interviews join stories and photo essays by the author with key BFS figures, including Bait Finesse Empire founder Amir Azzabi, Japanese BFS Youtuber “Tsurinan,” well-known American Bait Finessers Anorak SZN, Hobie-Wan Kenobi, and raWr Fishing (Jimmy Ly) to name just a few. These anglers take on bass, panfish, trout, char, peacock bass, snakehead, perch – and many more species in the book. The photos of these experiences should add up to the mother of all fishing destination bucket lists; while at the same time highlighting how BFS opens up un-tapped fishing adventures right in your backyard (whether you fish ponds, rivers, canals, lakes, or remote mountain streams).
The author relates a collection of very personal stories, and these are illustrated with high-quality photos throughout. John Pearson even answers the “why not just use a spinning reel?” debate with his personal story of becoming a BFS convert. There are photo spotlights on reels, rods (glass & graphite), and lures with gear spanning ALL price points. As well as the page content, the book is very much your ticket to access the online media and associated discussions with fellow Finesse Fans.
Digital Media:
Fishing Discoveries’Â 1hr 12-min film “BFS Daydream” opens up the bonus media section. There are angler profiles, photo galleries (including Tsurinan’s named lure collection), and video samplers from raWr Fishing, Alan Ang and Tsurinan – with space to expand over time.
The experiences and culture of mountain headwaters fishing are explained using researched and curated video content along with explorations of where some of the adventurous traditions come from within that culture.
A directory for gear rounds out the online content with valuable links and articles – and this is another section that will expand over time. As part of that, the comments and discussion facilities are designed to shape the direction of content development and function as a BFS community hub.
The aim is to deliver a lot of bang for your buck in terms of the quality and quantity inside this combined digital and print product.
